- Outlook: Akoy is a versatile big who can play both inside and outside on both sides of the court....He played 2 years at the University of Louisville and 1 year respectively at Georgetown and Southern Methodist University.... Akoy is a very good wing defender, can switch onto both wings and big men and is a disruptor defending the pick and roll....He has great instincts and uses his 7’4” (2.23m) Wingspan to close passing lanes for opponents, block shots and create overall dysfunction for the offense....On the offensive side of the ball, Akoy is incredibly active....He is a great screener, can pick and roll and pick and pop in the half court and has post moves over both shoulders....Akoy is very strong on the offensive glass -he uses his strength to get great positioning on the defender and is quick to react to the ball off of the rim...In his first professional season, he averaged 2+ offensive rebounds per game.... He is a very high IQ player and is an efficient scorer, as his stats show....He's an experienced player with a great locker room presence and respected leader, proven by his participation with the Big East Student-Athletes Advisory Committee....Akoy also speaks three languages (Dinka, Arabic and English) and has dual citizenship (South Sudan and United States)....Akoy sprained severely his ankle in 2022 in an exhibition game with Cafeteros de Armenia/Colombia-Liga Wplay but he's fully healthy and hungry for his next opportunity....
